Students from CEDES Don Bosco formed the Vico team that won #DestinoSeguro Hackathon competition, an event sponsored by event that the U.S. Embassy, the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT), and Ideas en Accion in order to create a tech solution to Costa Rica’s security challenges.
Throughout 30 continuous hours, software programmers, designers, specialists in tourism and students put their innovative and technological minds together to develop a mobile app prototype that will give a response to growing insecurity in Costa Rica. Through this app, tourists will receive updated information on beach conditions and other security risks.
The group of students from Vico created a prototype provides current information about topics such as weather and marine currents, as well as security tips, and emergency contact information.
