Community Engagement Exchange Program (CEE)

The Community Engagement Exchange Program (CEE), a fully funded exchange program, supports emerging community leaders, ages 21-28 from around the world working at the nexus of public, private, and non-profit sector to address issues of public concern and improve the quality of community. Through a three-month exchange in the United States, follow-on community engagement projects, and robust alumni programming, CEE equips the next generation of civil society leaders to develop sustainable, multisector solutions to community challenges in 100 countries.

The program includes:

  1. Fully funded professional practicum at U.S. community-based organizations for three months;
  2. Comprehensive civic engagement and leadership curriculum;
  3. Service-learning opportunities in U.S. host communities;
  4. Mentorship from global civic society experts and support with a follow-on community engagement project.
  5. Sponsorship for the student visa J-1.

Requisitos:

  1. Young leaders in any of the following sectors: resilience and sustainable development, women and gender issues, open and participatory government, youth engagement and/or civic dialogue and peacebuilding;
  2. Citizen of Costa Rica;
  3. A minimum of 2 years of professional or volunteer experience working in a community or civil society organization at the time of the application with the goal of making a career in civil society;
  4. Available to begin the program in January of 2024 in the United States;
  5. Proficient in written and spoken English, semifinalists will be required to take a Duolingo English Language Test.
