The Consular Section at U.S. Embassy San Jose is pleased to announce a Consular Outreach event in Puerto Viejo next month. Embassy staff will be available to accept adult passport renewals, perform notarial services, and answer your questions.
WHEN: Thursday, September 1, 1:30-3:00 PM; Embassy Town Hall at 4:30.
WHERE: La Costa de Papito Restaurant (Puerto Viejo)

- Passport Renewals: To be eligible, you must present a 10-year passport that is valid or expired less than 5 years ago. You will need to submit a DS-82 form (Pdf- 91Kb) and a 2”-by-2” passport photo with a light-colored background. We cannot process applications for lost/stolen passports, or renewals for applicants under age 16. The price is 62,100 colones.
- Notarial Services: The presence of the person requesting the notary and legal proof of identity are required. The price is 28,200 colones per seal.
- Federal Benefits and Voter Assistance: We will also accept applications for replacement Social Security cards and will have informational material on Federal Benefits for Veterans, Dependents, and Survivors, as well as voter registration applications.
- Town Hall: Following our routine services, we will host an open Town Hall question and answer forum with representatives from the U.S. Embassy in San Jose.
All payments must be in cash. Exact change is greatly appreciated. Sorry, we can’t take dollars.
