The United States Will Collaborate with MEP for Four More Years

The U.S. Embassy signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Public Education (MEP), committing to work together for four more years in order to strengthen the teaching of English in public schools.

The memorandum of understanding includes support for English language development for students, professors and MEP staff with English specialists; development of pedagogical materials and resources for English teaching and learning; fostering English teaching through cultural events at public schools and high schools, and the promotion of exchanges programs.

The signing of this document will also represents the U.S. Embassy San Jose commitment to the TeachHer initiative, which aims to encourage girls to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, arts and math.

For U.S. Ambassador Sharon Day, the signing of this memorandum of understanding looking towards the future and making plans to make the longstanding partnership between the U.S. Embassy and the Ministry of Public Education even stronger.
