Perez Zeledon, January 20th, 2018
For two years, 80 students from 12 Perez Zeledon high schools devoted many hours to learning English through the Access English Microscholarship, a U.S. Embassy-sponsored program implemented by the Universidad Nacional.
After much hard work, these bright students can now speak and understand English at an intermediate-advanced level. With this new skill, they will surely have more job and academic opportunities. Many hope to develop further their English fluency through travel or study in the United States.
During the graduation ceremony, U.S. Ambassador Sharon Day highlighted the importance of English language as a skill that opens doors and enables one to engage the entire world, highlighting that “English is the language of Internet, trade and culture.”
